Hi.. I want to edit the index.php file (the one that shows the blog posts): I want, among other thing, remove the comment box on the left of the title, but I can't do that (It works on the single.php file). If I open the file with a text other on my computer, it appears like this:

<?php get_header(); ?>

 <div class="content">

 <?php if (have_posts()) : ?>
<?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

 <div class="blogpost">
[......]

but, in the wordpress editor it's like this:

<?php function sf_admin_head() { ?>
<style>
h2 { margin-bottom: 20px; }
.title { margin: 0px !important; background: #D4E9FA; padding: 10px; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-weight: normal !important; letter-spacing: 1px; font-size: 18px; } [....]

They're completely different..
I tried to solve this by creating an Home page with the Home template, and a Blog page with a custom Blog template, this:

<?php
/*
Template Name: Blog
*/
?>
<?php get_header(); ?>

 <div class="content">

 <?php if (have_posts()) : ?>
<?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

 <div class="blogpost"> [.....]

It's the same as the index.php file.. But editing it doesn't change anything..
Any help? Thanks

serenae on "Want to display a different category in the slider?"

If you want to display a different category or subcategory in the slider (for example, a subcategory within your portfolio) I've come up with a solution by modifying the main index template (index.php) and home page template (template-home.php).

Simply download and unzip the two files, then FTP into the simplefolio theme folder, located in wp-content/themes/simplefolio. Download here:
http://serenae.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/simplefolio-edits.zip

Once uploaded, go into the theme options, scroll down to "Slider Options", and choose which category you want to display. Voila!

If you prefer to edit each file yourself, here's what I did:
1) In the theme editor, click on Main Index Template (index.php)

2) Scroll down to the line that begins with: $sfoptions[] = array(	"name" => "Slider Options",
"type" => "heading");

3) Right after this line, paste the following on a new line:
$sfoptions[] = array(	"name" => "Slider Category",
"desc" => "Select the category you will post your slider items under.",
"id" => $shortname."_slider_category",
"std" => "Select a page:",
"type" => "select",
"options" => $sf_categories);

4) Save.

5) Click on the Home Page Template file (template-home.php)

6) Scroll down to the line that begins with: $category = get_option('sf_portfolio_category');

7) Replace 'sf_portfolio_category' with 'sf_slider_category'

8) Save, and you're done! Go into the theme options, scroll down to "Slider Options", and choose which category you want to display.

Hi,

How can I do to add a different class to style the categories and sub-categories differently ?

Hello folks,

For some reason date entry date on my blog's comments come out in code instead of the correct format. It appears
%A %B %e%q, %Y at %I:%M %p
. To see the live example you can visit: http://www.boonesommerfeld.com/persepolis-invitation/

in the "sliderImage" there's block element (h3) inside inline one (span).

I also think that the text displaying under h3 element in "sliderImage" doesn't not appear correctly in FF.

I've edited my site and have it exactly how I want it, but the site looks different in Safari and I don't know why.

Even the background, which I've already changed, shows as the original. HELP!

Has anyone developed a navigation for the pages of the portfolio pieces (not the portfolio page with the thumbnails, but when you enter the page for a piece of work). There is no previous page navigation or next/previous image navigation. It would be nice if the user didn't have to go back with their browser nav or click Portfolio at the top.

If someone has already added this to their page or has ideas for doing so, it'd be a stellar addition!

Cheers

Hi all,

I'd like to make some changes to the Portfolio page of the template. Overall I love the theme, but I want to make some slight alterations and wanted to check in before I go hacking in the code, just to make sure I haven't missed anything.

1. I have the slider working, but there doesn't seem to be anything that links the images on the Portfolio page to anything (like an external website). Where can I do this? I'd like the image to be clickable and link directly, not have to place text below it.

2. From my point of view, the larger image that the user is led to after clicking on the smaller one in a portfolio entry isn't serving any purpose once the user gets to the Portfolio page. It doesn't link to anything, and the user has already seen that image in the slider. It seems to be just one more click, and again, it doesn't link to anything.

Here's what I'd like to do. I want to have the slider as is, and the portfolio page as is, but alter it so that the images on the Portfolio page are clickable, linked to either pdfs or websites I've worked on.

I've seen this done other places online. Possible with SimpleFolio? I'm pretty decent with html, so if it is possible and you can point me in the right direction, I'll figure the rest out myself.

Thanks,

Ryan

Great theme! I have created a static main page as in the text file with the theme, but I don't see how to set up the Slider and make it run. Can someone direct me to that procedure or documentation?

Thanks,

Hi,
I've a problem with the Sub category of the "portfolio page" (that I call "Works"). In a first moment they appeared in the "Works" page exactly like in the demo (under the title of the page) but during the changes in the admin page they "disappear". I have abled the option in the Theme Options but it does'n work. Can anyone say me what can be the problem?

Another question:
How can I integrate a video in a page? (I've seen that the upload can be maximum of 4MB and I have file video very huge...). Can I embed the videos from You Tube? How?

Thank you!

first of all thank you for this wonderful template.

i have a question about the subcategory navigation, in particular this portion of code in template-portfolio.php:

<div class="portfnav">

<span>select an item:</span>

 <li<?=$addtoclass; ?>>">all
<?php sf_list_portfolio_child_categories($category,$pcat,get_permalink());?>

</div>

this code show a list of all subcategories and also of all sub-sub categories. is there a way to show only the sub categories (first level) and hide, instead, the sub-sub categories (second level)?

thanks!

The one thing different is that the white container area and the button colors are dissapearing. Please take a look (in IE7):
